Absolute Monarchy

The Empire of Sorelion is governed as an absolute hereditary monarchy, where the Emperor holds supreme authority over the state and its people. The imperial throne is passed down through the royal family, often from parent to child, with the succession laws strictly governing the line of inheritance to ensure stability and continuity of rule.

The Emperor is supported by an Imperial Court, comprised of nobles, advisors, and high-ranking officials appointed based on loyalty, merit, or noble lineage. While the court has no formal legislative power, its members serve as counselors, administrators, and envoys of the Emperor.

Culture and Society

Tradition and Hierarchy: Sorelion society is highly stratified, with a clear hierarchy from the Emperor and nobility down to commoners and serfs. Loyalty to the Emperor and the empire is a core value, instilled through education, culture, and religious practices.

Arts and Education: The empire boasts a rich tradition of arts, literature, and scholarship. The Imperial Academy is the center of learning and culture, accessible to the nobility and exceptionally talented commoners. Artistic expression is often used to glorify the Emperor's reign and the empire's achievements.

Military Prowess: Sorelion's military might is renowned, with a well-trained, loyal army and a strong tradition of martial excellence. Military service is a path to honor and prestige, particularly for the nobility, but also for commoners who wish to attain a noble title through their achievements.

Religion and the Divine Right to Rule: The state religion plays a significant role in legitimizing the Emperor's absolute rule, with the doctrine of divine right asserting that the Emperor is chosen by the gods to rule. Temples and religious institutions often work closely with the imperial administration, further intertwining faith with governance.
